Table of Contents

Russia has a long history of military might. It is no secret that the Russian army is one of the largest in the world. In this blog post, we will take a closer look at just how extensive Russia’s military force really is. We will also compare it to America’s military and see who comes out on top!

Russia’s active military forces, as of 2018, consisted of 1.15 million personnel, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). This includes 280,000 service members in the permanent Russian Armed Forces and 255,000 reservists. In addition to this personnel, Russia has a significant number of paramilitary troops from its National Guard and Border Service, which brings the total to around 2 million personnel.

The Russian military is also well-equipped with an impressive array of weapons systems, including tanks, aircraft fighters, bombers, submarines, and missiles. In terms of inventory size, it is estimated that Russia has over 10,200 tanks and over 4,182 combat aircraft at its disposal.

Comparatively speaking, the United States has a larger military force with 1.3 million active personnel and an additional 800,000 reservists. Similarly to Russia, the US also has a formidable array of weapons systems in its possession, including tanks, aircraft fighters, bombers, submarines, and missiles. The US inventory is estimated at around 14,000 tanks and over 6,612 combat aircraft, making it by far the most powerful fleet worldwide..

Overall, this comparison shows us just how big and powerful Russia’s military might really be. It also demonstrates why they remain one of the major players in global affairs. Ultimately, it pays to be aware of Russia’s military capabilities, no matter what side you are on.
